Thelma Jean Gibson 87 years old of Spruce Pine, AL. passed away November 24, 2021, at North Alabama Medical Center. Memorial will be Saturday, November 27, 2021, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Akins Funeral Home, Russellville, AL. She was born July 5, 1934 in Jasper, Alabama. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Gibson; her mother, Viola Jones; her father Horace Gregory; and her sons, Donnie and Dale Gibson; her daughters Janet and Tammy Gibson and Patsy Jones; sister Velma Miller; grandson Ricky Knox; granddaughter Sabrina Green; great grandson Ricky Ethan Knox; and son–in-law Mike Ashton. She is survived by her daughters Evelyn Ashton and Ruby Green(Melvin)); and her grandchildren, Jennifer Green, Billy Cornelius, Patricia Nix, Jeremy Nix, Brandy Bates, Melvin Green(Ashley), Jimmy Knox, Michael Ashton, Timothy Ashton, Allison Gibson, AJ Gibson, Vannessa Gibson and Billie Stanford(Jeremy) and a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Encompass Hospice of Muscle Shoals and North Alabama Medical Center 5th floor nurses. Akins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
