Thelma-King-1426694446Thelma Alene King age 82 passed away March 17, 2015 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

She was born September 6, 1932 near Dyersburg, TN, the daughter of the late William Andrew and Gladys Brooks Blackburn King. She was raised near Toone, TN. She married James Newton King on September 6, 1948. They made their home in Chester County. Mr. King preceded her in death November 13, 1984. Thelma was a factory worker and retired from Harmon Automotive in Bolivar in 1995. She also worked at M & M Restaurant and also Granny’s Kitchen in Henderson.
She loved to train horses and was known as ‘The Horse Lady’ and enjoyed attending horse shows. She loved flowers and all animals especially goats. She was a good artist, and loved music and singing and was Baptist in faith.

Mrs. King is survived by four daughters, Nelma Jane Dobbs of Humboldt, Judy Ann Loftis and husband Bill of Medon, Susan Carol Maness and husband Larry of Henderson and Bonnie Rose Parmely and husband David of Selmer and a son, Jerry Wayne King of Medon; ten grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; three sisters, June Vandiver of Bolivar, Martha Mosier of Medon and Barbara Wilkins of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Newton King; her stepfather, James Hudson King; a sister, Lorrene Milner and two brothers, William B. King and James Henry King.

Memorial services will be 3:00 PM Sunday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Johnson Chapel.
