MORGAN COUNTY-Downtown Hartselle and downtown Decatur are gearing up for the holidays beginning this weekend. Shoppers are invited to come out and enjoy the spirit of the season with shopping, music and more from local businesses.
Downtown Hartselle welcomes the holiday shopping season with a Christmas open house on Sunday, November 8th from 1 to 4 p.m. Santa Claus will make an appearance to spread holiday cheer and to visit with children at 1 p.m. at the Depot located at 110 Railroad Street SW. There will be hot chocolate, treats, photo opportunities with Santa and other fun, holiday-inspired activities. Merchants will be open and showcasing ideas for holiday gifts. Downtown Decatur kicks off the holiday season with a three day open house event. Shoppers can tackle their Christmas lists with extended shopping hours and specials sales from downtown merchants. Hours are Thursday, Nov. 12th and Friday, Nov. 13th until 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 14th until 5 p.m. In addition to the local eateries in the downtown area, there will be food trucks on Bank Street during lunchtime hours. On Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Bank Street, shoppers can visit the popular 1818 Farms Flower Truck to pick out a beautiful dried flower arrangement or ask questions and learn the basic steps of making bouquets, gardening and more. For the safety and well-being of guests, event organizers will be exercising COVID-19 precautionary measures as necessary. Guests will be required to wear masks or face coverings and are asked to practice social distancing and keeping a distance of six feet from anyone not in your immediate family.
