The Fish Creel: A Restaurant Review

I had heard about this place called the Fish Creel located in Anderson, Alabama.  I was told they had good food.  One Sunday, I found myself with nothing to do so I decided to check it out.    To get there from the Quad Cities, take U.S. Highway 72 East to Rogersville.  At the Red Light in Rogersville, turn left on Highway 207.   Then just drive.   When you get into the Town Anderson you will see the Fish Creel on the left side of the road just past Town Hall.

I got there around 215 PM and the parking lot was packed.  I parked and walked inside.  It is a fairly big place with the tables arranged so you can be comfortable.  .  My first impression was that the restaurant was neat and well organized.  I was promptly seated and the waitress quickly brought my drink.  Looking over the menu, I saw that the Fish Creel offers all types of Fish and Seafood.  I observed that they also offered a daily plate lunch.

I decided that I did not want seafood so I ordered a Chicken Finger plate with a Baked Potato.  Of, course; I had to sample their Cheese Sticks.  Looking around, I saw people eating various meals with Fish seemed to be the mainstream item.  My Cheese Sticks came.  I have to say that they were delicious.  Shortly thereafter, my meal came.

The plate consisted of 6 Chicken Fingers.  They were breaded and fried.  They were not cooked too much to where they were dry but juicy with a slight crunch of the batter.  There was a hint of herbs in the batter that gave them a good taste.   I tried the Sweet & Sour Sauce as well as the Honey Mustard Sauce.    I preferred the Sweet & Sour Sauce.  The Baked Potato was cooked just right.

So if you are looking for some home cooked Fish or Seafood, give the Fish Creel a chance.  I don’t think you will be disappointed.  From the Quad Cities, it will take you about 45 minutes to get there but it is a nice drive.  Now as far as rating, I am going to give them 4 Cheese Sticks out of 5 Cheese Sticks.  I really enjoyed it.
