The 25 days of Christmas in Colbert County

Sheffield and Tuscumbia have the first Christmas parades of the season, with both beginning at 6 p.m., Tuesday, December 2. For more information on participating in the Sheffield parade call 256-383-0250. The deadline to enter the parade is Monday, December 1.  For more information on the Tuscumbia parade, call 256-386-7200. The deadline to enter is Friday, November 28.

Muscle Shoals’ parade begins at 7 p.m., Tuesday, December 9. For more information about the parade, call 256-386-9250. The deadline to enter is Monday, December 1.

Cherokee’s parade begins at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 6. Leighton’s parade  is also that day. It begins at 7 p.m. Both parades will accept entries until the time of the events.

Susann Hamlin, executive director of Colbert County Tourism and Convention Bureau, said December is chock-full of Christmas activities throughout the county.

“We literally have a holiday event going on somewhere in the country every day from December 1 right up until Christmas eve night,” Hamlin said.

Other holiday events in Colbert County include: The Christmas Train Parade of Lights at Spring Park in Tuscumbia, 4-8 p.m. daily December 1-24. “The Trees of Christmas” at Tennessee Valley Museum dickens christmasof Art in Tuscumbia, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday – Friday and 1-3 p.m. on Sunday December 1-24. Sugarplum Market Place at North Alabama State Fairgrounds in Muscle Shoals, 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday, December 5, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, December 6 and noon-5 p.m. Sunday, December  7. Plantation Christmas at Belle Mont Mansion in Tuscumbia, 1-5 p.m. Sunday, December 7.

“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” at Ritz Theater, 7:30 p.m. Friday, December 12 and 2 p.m. Sunday, December 14. Dickens Christmas Feast at Tuscumbia Roundhouse,  7 p.m. Friday, December 12.  Dickens Dash 5K run and 1-mile Tiny Tim Trot, 8:30 and 9 a.m. Saturday, December, 13.  “Dickens Christmas, Y’all” in downtown Tuscumbia, Saturday, Dec. 13 and Christmas at Ivy Green, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec., 13.
