Tex Bailey, 24, died November 1, 2024, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, Kentucky.
Tex was born March 3, 2000, in Huntsville, Alabama. He was the son of Deborah Hamilton Chance (Chris) and William Harold Bailey, Jr.; grandson of Flo M. Hamilton and the late Robert J. Hamilton, Jr; grandson of Adonis Bailey Whitlow (Doyle) and the late Harold Bailey. Also, he was predeceased by his aunt, Lorraine Hamilton Stovall and cousin, Jason McNeer.
Tex is survived by sister, Emma Grace Bailey; stepbrother, Caleb T Chance; stepsister, Madeleine R Chance; uncle, Robert J Hamilton (Becca); aunts, Lori Anne Shrode (Tim), Andrea Abernathy (Ken); great uncles Hunter Mcneer III (Patty) and Larry Long (Drucilla); great aunts, Peggy Long and Betty Balch; cousins, Kayla H. Allen (Robert), Robert J Hamilton IV (Taylir), Mary Katherine Stovall, Riley Shrode, Tyler Abernathy, Elizabeth Stovall, and Madeline Elise Shrode; many other aunts, uncles, cousins; and fiancé, Ashlee Sunderman.
Tex was a graduate of Madison Academy (2019). Tex’s football career at MA included Regional Championship wins in 2015, 2016, 2018; he was also on the team that played for the Alabama State Runner Up AASHA Football his sophomore year. Atheltic accomplishments also include Alabama State Champion Indoor Track and Field Shot Put (2019). Outside of his athletic endeavors, Tex pursued the fine arts participating in choir and theatre. Interesting fact: Tex was voted most likely to “break out into song” his senior year.
He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Police Studies from Eastern Kentucky University (2023), while continuing as a student athlete for the Colonels. During his college career at EKU, Tex was an active member of FCA, BCM and sang on the worship team for Immanuel Baptist Church. After college, Tex was accepted into the Kentucky Dept of Fish and Wildlife Resources Law Enforcement Division. His love of the outdoors and wildlife inspired him to pursue a career as a Game Warden.
A service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024, at Madison Academy Bill Washington Stadium. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at Bailey Farm.
