Terry William McMinn, 77, of Muscle Shoals, AL passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024. Visitation will be Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 11 a.m. 2 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel immediately followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Pastor Mark Mayfield will be officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pauline McMinn; son, Daryl McMinn (Stacy); brother, Tony McMinn; sister, Carol Mueller (Jimmy); grandchildren, Sam and Emma McMinn; and also, many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Jessie McMinn; sister-in-law, Sylvia Laiche McMinn.

He was a member of Leighton Baptist Church and a former member of Woodward Avenue Baptist Church where he taught 7th and 8th grade boys Sunday School for many years.

He retired from Muscle Shoals Electric Department after 40 years of hard work and dedication. He was a member of Local 558 IBEW Where he taught first year apprentice lineman for over 20 years. He loved Muscle Shoals City and therefore served as an interim city councilman on 2 separate occasions.

He was a member of Sheffield Lodge 503. He was a member of Muscle Shoals Lions Club. He volunteered his time sitting with some homebound friends so their families could go to church. He also helped numerous friends and family whenever needed.

He was born in Muscle Shoals and graduated Muscle Shoals High School in 1965. He was a standout athlete in baseball and football. His love for football led to him being recruited by Bear Bryant at the University of Alabama and ultimately playing at Mississippi State University. He left Mississippi State to join the US Airforce where he served 4 years. He married his high school sweetheart, Pauline and returned home to Muscle Shoals where he started his family and his career as an electrician.

He was the best husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He loved his family and especially loved being Pops to Sam and Emma. They were his greatest joy. He enjoyed being outside taking care of his property and picking up pecans. He loved to share them with others. He also enjoyed beekeeping and sharing honey with others too. He loved his pets, the Trojans and his country.

A heartfelt thanks to Dr. Brad McAnnally and staff, Dr. Birchfield and the VA administration for the care and help given at Cypress Cove Rehab. A special thanks to Affinity Hospice, their nurses and caregivers for all their help. Also thank you to Tracy and Jennifer.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or Leighton Baptist Church Building Fund.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Mueller, Tracey Hendrix, Brad Lawrence, Tommy Mac Tomlinson, Bobby Tomlinson, Nathan Jarrell, Bob Little, and Alan Noles. Honorary Pallbearers will be Butch Whitehead and Doss Kennamer.
