Mr. Terry Wayne Campbell, age 71, of Walker County, AL passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020 at VA Hospital. Due to COVID 19, funeral services will be private. Burial will be at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo at a later date. Bell Funeral Home Sumiton has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Wayne was born on March 8, 1949, and he was the son of Johnie and Mary Lou Trillie Campbell. He was a Vietnam veteran serving his country proudly in the Army. His first deployment was in Thailand; after the tour ended, he reenlisted and went to Vietnam.
Wayne was one of twelve children. As a child, one of his brothers was always amazed at Wayne’s ability to earn money. Whether it was a paper route, selling ice cream or selling newspapers at a news stand on a street corner in East Chicago. Another one of his brothers use to call him Wayne the Pain, and if you grew up with him and the other boys, you would understand why. Ultimately, throughout his life, he lived life his way. Wayne will be greatly missed.
Preceding him death were his parents, Johnie Daniel Campbell and Mary Lou Trille Estes; grandparents, William Campbell and Savannah Robbins Campbell, Auburn Vanderbilt Estes and Armenda Ethel Worthy Estes; brothers, Charles Austin Campbell and J.C. Campbell; sisters, Mary Magdelene Campbell Hyde, Bobbie Jean Campbell and Carolyn Marie Campbell Dexter.
Survivors include his brothers, Paul M. Campbell Sr. (Betty), Billy F. Campbell (Carol), Delane Campbell, and Larry E. Campbell (Donna); sisters, Velma F. Alexander (George) and Anna M. Gassner (Bob); and many nieces and nephews.
