Teresa Ann Thompson Thomason – Obituary

Teresa Ann Thompson Thomason passed from this life on Oct. 30, 2013, at Helen Keller Hospital after a brief illness at the age of 60. Funeral arrangements are at Colbert Memorial Chapel, Tuscumbia. Visitation is today from 9 to 11 with the funeral service following at 11. Interment will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

Teresa was born on Sept. 23, 1953, at Lackland Air Force Base in Tampa, Fla. to Coy Walbert Thompson and Margaret Harville Thompson. She graduated from Hatton High School in 1971. Teresa retired from the State of Alabama Veterans Administration after 30 years of loyal and dedicated service to our state’s veterans. Teresa had proudly served as the secretary to the Ladies’ Auxiliary for 20 years. She had most recently worked with Amerigas in Florence. Teresa was a loving and compassionate person leaving behind a multitude of friends and co-workers whose lives she touched.

Teresa was preceded in death by her father and mother. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Jerald O’Neal Thomason; stepchildren, Shauna Lynn Thomason and James Gregory Thomason (Sharon); stepgrandsons, Jacob Pigg, Shannon Campbell and Alex Campbell. She is also survived by four brothers, Darrell Thompson (Beverly), Mike Thompson (Sylvia), Alan Thompson (Gwen) and Roland Thompson; and a sister, Carol Hurst (Will); and 14 nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Dustin Thompson, Josh Thompson, Nick Thompson, Jacob Pigg, Shannon Campbell, and Alex Campbell.

Honorary pallbearers are Paul Fox and the members of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary No. 4919.
