Teresa Ann HughesTeresa Ann Hughes, of Huntsville, passed away Friday at the age of 67. She lived for many years with multiple sclerosis and lost her ability to walk, but through her devout faith in the Lord, she never lost her sense of humor or wit and remained strong-willed.

Before MS took its toll on her body, there was nothing Teresa could not do. She worked as a nurse. She had a love for good music, and was herself an accomplished pianist. She loved to crochet, embroider and was a talented seamstress. She made many of her own clothes, blankets and other treasures that will be cherished by her family for years to come. Despite the challenges that came with MS, Teresa was a devoted mother, and her legacy will live on through her children.

Teresa was preceded in death by her sister, Vivian Louise Gomez; father, Manuel Gomez, Jr.; niece, Allison Marie Gomez-Orozco; mother-in-law, Iris Hughes; brother-in-law, Brad White; and nephew, John Austin Mulqueen, Jr.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Anthony Hughes; children, Richard Christian Hughes (Madison), Tomasa Hughes Buis (Shawn) and Dominic Anthony Hughes (Elin); granddaughter Juniper Anne Hughes; mother, Ana Maria Gomez; brothers, Manuel Gomez III (Gina) and James Gomez (Kim); sisters, Cathy White, Paula Mulqueen (Jack), and Dawn Gomez; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life Mass will be held for close friends and family.

Teresa was dedicated to her faith. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church 625 Airport Road SW Huntsville, AL 35802
