TRINITY— The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) will be replacing the Trinity transmission tower conductor lines across the Tennessee River at mile 297.6 starting the week of September 16. Due to the transmission work, boat traffic will be restricted starting Monday, September 16, through Monday, September 23, 2024.
Workers will be on-site daily from 6:30 a.m. through 7:00 p.m. CT, however this timeframe could change if crews experience any delays. The TVA transmission team will have six small vessels approximately 1/4 mile above and below the line to warn vessels approaching the area: four safety vessels and two police vessels. Recreational and commercial traffic can still transit the area ONLY after receiving approval from the foreman onsite. There will be no restrictions on transiting the area at night.
TVA reports the region growing three times faster than the national average and the University of Tennessee’s Baker School projects our region’s population to grow 22% by 2050. To support this growth on a local level, TVA is investing $2.8 billion to strengthen the power grid across its service area through 2027. With nearly 60% of TVA’s energy already carbon-free, these power grid improvements will help ensure the region’s energy security as the agency provides reliable, affordable, resilient, and clean energy.
