Tennessee Man Being Held After Pursuit Near Cherokee

CHEROKEE-The Cherokee Police Department issued a release concerning the arrest of a suspect who was involved a a police pursuit that ended in a wreck of the suspects vehicle and a foot pursuit after the accident:

“On the evening of July 17 law enforcement officials were in a pursuit of a stolen vehicle out of the State of Tennessee. The pursuit ended in the Cherokee area. The vehicle wrecked and the driver was on foot. 

After several hours of searching for the suspect, he is finally in police custody. We would like to thank all law enforcement agencies, citizens, and medical personnel for their assistance.

The suspect from yesterday evening pursuit has been identified.
Cody Alan McEwen (30) of Tennessee was apprehended by law enforcement. He has pending charges for:
1 x count of Attempting to Elude Police
2 × counts of Burglary 3rd Degree
1 x count of Burglary 2nd Degree
1 x count of Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree
1x count of Criminal Trespass 2nd Degree
1x count of Theft of Property 1st Degree
1x count of Resisting Arrest
There are possibly more charges pending.
The suspect is currently being held in the Colbert County Jail.  Bond is unknown at this time.
ALL SUSPECTS ARE INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY IN THE COURT OF LAW!
We would like to thank Sheriff Frank Williamson and the Colbert County Sheriff’s Office, Tuscumbia Police Department, and Cherokee Police Department officers for their hard work and assistance in apprehending the suspect. We would also like to thank medical personnel for their response as well. We would like to say thank you to Colbert County 911 dispatchers for great communication and consistent updates with citizen tips and law enforcement information. A job well done! Most of all we would like to thank the citizens of Cherokee, AL for all of their help and visuals of the suspect. Tips from our community enabled local law enforcement to locate and immediately take the suspect into custody.”
