WEST TENNESSEE-The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) declared a Level III State of Emergency for Tennessee on Thursday at 3 p.m. today, January 21.
TEMA declared the state of emergency was “due to weather forecasts of a major winter weather system that will move into West Tennessee, late this evening and overnight, and gradually move across the entire State through Saturday,”stated in the release given to the press.
Experts said this storm is bringing the potential of freezing rain, sleet, snow and high winds, all of which may create blizzard-like conditions in some areas during parts of Friday.
The release said the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) will have members monitoring the situation, as well as the Tennessee Departments of Health, Human Services, Military, and Transportation, and Tennessee Highway Patrol on hand for the projected storm.
TEMA warns “this is a very unpredictable weather system and the timing and precipitation amounts could change. Be prepared for changing weather and road conditions by monitoring local weather forecasts closely.”
