Ted Hopkins, age 81, who passed on Monday, March 26, 2018 at home. He was a lifelong member of Mount Hope United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from the Fruehauf Corporation.
He was married to Flossie Burks Hopkins for 51 years. They had three children, Tina Marie Hopkins Brackin (Barry), Joel Shane Hopkins (Robin) and Sarah Fae Hopkins. They had four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren.
He is also survived by two sisters, Betty Burfield (Jimmy) and Carol Meadows (Billy); sister-in-law, Mavis Hopkins (Billy) and a host of nieces and nephews.
He and his beloved wife served faithfully in church and their community. They loved Mount Hope. They coached many children in softball and baseball for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Flossie; parents, Carlie Joseph and Gertrude Scruggs Hopkins; brother, Reverend Billy Zane Hopkins: two infant sisters; grandson, Nicholas Hopkins; nephew, Greg Meadows and great-niece, Caitlyn Morgan.
Visitation will be Friday, March 30, 2018, at Mount Hope United Methodist Church from noon to 1 p.m. with funeral service to follow. Service will be held by Tom Elder, Michael Rhodes, Jonathan Henderson and Scott Lindsey.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be nephews, great-nephews and friends.
Services are under the direction of Elliott Brown-Service Funeral Home.
