FLORENCE-This past week, the Florence-Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau hosted the TBF High School World Finals which began on Wednesday, June 22 through Saturday, June 25. Teams from all 50 states were represented as well as Canada and Zimbabwe, South Africa.
With 416 boats registered for the event, this meant 832 anglers, as well as a captain in each boat, made the field an impressive 1,248 participants. Association and event officials have said they could see as many as 2000-3000 people here each day. Hotels, restaurants and other retail and service industries saw a significant lift in their business.
Tyler Dolan, Sales Manager for the Florence-Lauderdale CVB said, “In 2019, this tournament delivered almost $2.2 million in economic impact to the Florence and Shoals area. With more boats registered this year than in 2019, that number should be much greater for the ’22 tourney. We feel a tremendous sense of honor and gratitude to have this event here in Florence. It is a competitive environment in which to host these tournaments, but both Pickwick and Wilson Lakes have an international reputation for great fishing”.
Our sincere thanks to the TBF officials for bringing this outstanding event to The Shoals area. We look forward to hosting it again in the near future!
