On April 27, 2016 heaven gained a beautiful angel. Tammy Elizabeth Kersey was surrounded by family and friends as she took her last breath. She was born to the late Robert and Peggy Jo Workman on October 26, 1966. She was born with a loving and caring soul. She was most known for “taking care” of everyone. She graduated from Richland High School in May 1984 and married her soul mate on June 25, 1984. Over the next four years, Tammy had two daughters and graduated from LPN school. She worked as a pediatric and OB Nurse at Maury Regional Medical Center until 1995 when her health didn’t allow her to work a public job anymore. She was always trying to help those in need and received an honor from the American Red Cross for donating 10 gallons of blood. On November 22, 1992, Tammy gave her life to the Lord. She was a hard worker for the Lord and because of her faith and dedication to prayer, we were blessed with many years of blessings with her.
On December 12, 1994 Tammy’s life forever changed. She started her twenty-one and a half year battle with health issues. It was not all sickness and sadness. Because of this, Tammy was able to be very active in her children’s lives and was able to care for all those she loved. She loved to cook and take care of people. She took in many “Children” over the years including Drew Deridder, Wyatt and Carrigan Cummins, Misty Bue, Jericho McKennon, and Lakisha White. She was blessed with some amazing doctors over the years including Dr. Ball, Dr. Gold Smith, Dr. Worthman, and Dr. Sisk. Tammy was also blessed with nursing staff who treated her and all of us as family. She could always count on her sister, Emily, to take her to the doctor, hospital, or just help clean the house.
Thank you to all the friends and family who have been there over the past twenty-one and half years. Special thank you to Jennifer Laws and Nathan Kersey for being her “personal doctors”.
Tammy is survived by her husband of 31 years, David Kersey, two daughters, Jessie (Jay) Grooms of Mt. Pleasant and Brandi (Derrick) Chapman of Lynnville; one step-daughter, Carrie (Shannon) Davis of Campbellsville; six grandchildren Rebecca, Lane, Marissa Davis, Sophia and Kaiden Chapman and Joella Grooms; two sisters, Emily Workman of Campbellsville, and Brenda (Larry) Chapman of Mt.
