Sylvia was born in Espanola, New Mexico, on May 27, 1938 to Ely and Phoebe Martinez. She was the youngest of nine children and was preceded in death by her parents and all of her brothers and sisters.

While working at Sandia Corporation, she met Robert Dineen. They were married on March 3, 1973 and settled near Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Her three sons were born there. In 1987, the family moved to Huntsville, Alabama. It was here that she and Bob recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

She is survived by her husband, their sons and wives, Sean and Danielle, Brian and Laura, and Joel and Libbie, and nine grandchildren. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Her focus and joy was her family.
