Syble Owen Martin Syble Owen Martin, 97, passed away Friday, May 17, 2024, at Baptist Hospital-North MS in Oxford, MS. She was born in Pontotoc County to W.A. “Aris” and Maude Murphy Owen. A retired teacher assistant and bus driver with Pontotoc County Schools, she was the first female bus driver in Pontotoc County. She was a loving mother. She enjoyed her flowers and going dancing. She was a lifelong member of Liberty Baptist Chruch where she served on several committees.

She is survived by her six children, Owen Martin (Velinda), Bennie Martin, Ann Martin Abbott, Bill Martin (Lou Ann), Steve Martin (Shirley), and Randy Martin (Renea); her brother, Ralph Owen (Martha Jo); 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; a host of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Billy “Pete” Jordan.

Syble was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, Will and Bell Martin; her husband of 70 years, Johnie Martin; son-in-law, Dub Abbott; daughter-in-law, Linda Dowdy Martin; and 2 granddaughters, April Caldwell Martin and Tanya Criddle Abbott.

Service will be Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 2PM at Liberty Baptist Church in Pontotoc with Bro. Harvey Sewell and Bro. Tommy Inmon officiating.  Visitation will be Saturday, May 18th 5-8PM at Liberty Baptist Church and Sunday, May 19th 1PM until service time. Burial will follow in Carey Springs Cemetery.

Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
