Sybil Pauline Wright Thorne, 91, of Tuscumbia, went to be with her Lord on August 9, 2018. The graveside service will be Saturday, August 11, at 11 a.m. at Colbert Memorial Gardens with J.D. Thorne officiating.

She was born August 30, 1926 to Myrtle and William Wright of Colbert County, Alabama, and spent her childhood on Rock Creek with her siblings whom she adored: Lela Wright Towles, Bernice Wright Bozeman, Billie Wright Reid and Thurman Wright. She is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Layton Wilburn Thorne; her parents and her sisters.

Survivors include her brother, Thurman; her children, Betty (Jerry) Horn of Collierville, Tennessee and George (Ann) Thorne of Albertville; her four grandchildren, Melissa, Jennifer, Stephen and John David, six great-grandchildren.

She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Tuscumbia, the Naomi Sunday school class, and the Chief Colbert Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Her family treasures the memory of her joyful laughter, her humble spirit, her generous heart, and her love for the Creator and His creation. She saw beauty in everything and the best in everyone, and was happiest when surrounded by her family, her flowers, butterflies and birds. Her surviving family rejoices that after a life well-lived, she is now worshiping at the feet of her Savior.
