Sybil Louise Chambers Williamson, age 94, of Baileyton, Alabama passed away on August 17, 2024. Sybil was born in Cullman County, Alabama on August 20, 1929, the oldest of twelve children born to Hubert and Louella Chambers Cook. She and Herman Leroy Williamson were married for 42 years until his passing in 1989.
Sybil’s life was lived selflessly, consistently serving and loving others with all she had. She brought joy to those around her through her singing, cooking, encouragement and infectious smile. Sybil professed her faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior as a young girl, and she authentically demonstrated her love for Jesus through her actions, obedience, and sharing of His word. She was an active member of Lystra Baptist Church for many years, faithfully worshipping through service in many of the church’s ministries and enjoying every opportunity to sing with the choir.
Her unconditional love, dedication to her family, and devotion to Jesus will have a lasting impact on those she knew and loved. She was truly the matriarch of our family.
Sybil is survived by: sons Roger (Linda) Williamson, Lawayne Williamson, and Jan (Tamera) Williamson; grandchildren Courtney Williamson James, Sydale (Adam) Goss, Lindsey (Zac) Watson, Sidney (Jaythan) Blanton, and Ashley Black (Julian Gagnon); great grandchildren Mary Halen, Judson, Braelin, Ella, Camden, Ryley, Connor, and Ellis; brothers Carl Chambers and Joe (Gail) Chambers; sisters Janette (David) Nichols, Juanita (J.B.) Pugh, Vonda (James) Orr, Diane (David) Marchman; and a host of nieces and nephews who all loved her dearly!
She was preceded in death by her husband Herman Leroy Williamson, parents Hubert and Louella Cook Chambers, son Ricky Williamson, brothers Marvis Chambers, Wendell Chambers, Terry Chambers, and Dewayne Chambers; and sister Doris Marion.
Services for Mrs. Williamson will be Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, beginning at 2:00 pm, Adam Goss officiating.
