Sybil Kay Ridings Martin of Huntsville, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, after an extended battle with cancer.
Sybil was born May 15, 1945, in Shelby, North Carolina to Robert and Era Ridings. She graduated from Shelby High School and worked for several years as a long-distance operator in Charlotte, North Carolina. She met and married Michael Martin in 1965, and moved to Huntsville, Alabama where she continued working in retail sales and as a medical office manager.
She was a loving wife and mother, an avid reader, loved buying and selling jewelry, was an avid Elvis fan and attended numerous Elvis concerts, and loved beach trips with her friends.
She was preceded in death by a son, Andrew Martin, and a sister, Jean Price.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Michael Martin; grandson, Ethan Tuggey of Cullman, Alabama; sister and brother-in-law, Vicki and J.D. Clark, of Greer, South Carolina; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruth and Tom Martin of Memphis, Tennessee; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, with a memorial service immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Clearview Cancer Institute in Huntsville or to a charity of your choice.
