Suzie Abernathy was born on December 22, 1948, to Hudie Guy and Lassie Mae Abernathy. From an early age, she displayed a wit and a sense of humor. Suzie, also affectionately known as “Suzie Q’, graduated from Leighton Training School. After completing high school, Suzie moved to Milwaukee, WI. While residing in Milwaukee, Suzie gave birth to her only child Aisha (Abernathy) Myers. She would often refer to her and Aisha as “two peas in a pod”.

Also, while living in Milwaukee Suzie met her life partner Lucius Hood. Family was the cornerstone of Suzie’s life. She enjoyed cooking and laughter at every gathering during her 20 + years of living in Wisconsin. Suzie relocated to Georgia and ultimately returned to Alabama in 2018. One of her hobbies was capturing memories through photos. Suzie was known for the extensive collection of pictures of multiple generations and events over the years. Her joy of cooking and stories from the past always placed a smile on the faces of everyone in her presence.

Suzie was a loving mother to Aisha Myers (who preceded her in death) and grandmother to Amber and Myles Myers. She was a life partner of Lucius Hood (who preceded her in death). She leaves cherished memories with those who loved her, including her siblings, Rev. Royce Abernathy & Bobbie Joe Smith. Her siblings who proceeded her in death were Annie Louise Whitson, Lillian Abernathy, Cleo Washington, Arrie Mae Abernathy, Ella Abernathy, Price Clayton Abernathy, Leon Abernathy, Willie Frank Abernathy, Jerry Abernathy & Homer Dale Abernathy. She will be missed by a host of loving family, and friends.
