Suzanne Miller Wassner departed this life on November 24, 2024, one day short of her 68th birthday. She was born in Baldwin, MS but was raised in Sheffield and was a lifelong Bulldog. She married Wayne Wassner on April 11, 1981 and together they had three wonderful children who were the light of her life. They, in turn, provided her with four beautiful grandchildren who filled her later years with love and laughter.

Visitation will be at Colbert Memorial Chapel on November 27, 2024 from 10 to 12 with a service to follow. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

Suzanne was very involved in the lives of her children and her home was always full of kids. She was also active in the American Cancer Society and many of the “Bosom Buddies” support group members remained her lifelong friends. Of course, she rarely missed an opportunity to go out with her girlfriends- the “Sheffield Mafia” to enjoy each other’s company and exchange valuable information on current events. Suzanne had many, many other wonderful lifelong friends, too numerous to list, who will miss her dearly.

Suzanne was preceded in death by her mother and father, Grady Wayne and Juanita Herring Miller of Sheffield. Her mother and father-in-law, Wanda and Don Wassner loved her like their own daughter.

Suzanne is survived by her husband Wayne and three children Megan (Lee) Artz of Starkville, MS. Melissa (Brandon) Williams of Muscle Shoals and Lucas (Chelsea) Wassner of Florence. She had four grandchildren- Emmaline Wassner, Woodrow Wassner, Miller Williams and Oliver Williams. Becky Saint was her incredibly supportive sister and Mike Miller was her baby brother. Their children and their children’s children were another source of pride and joy. She also had a number of crazy, wonderful aunts, uncles and cousins in Mississippi. One of them, Rev. Chuck Herring will officiate her funeral.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Williams, Lee Artz, Andy Snipes, Thomas Martin, Jamie Alexander, Bobby Rutledge.

A sincere “Thank You” to all her friends, neighbors and family who supported her through her health issues. Thank you to Nurse Kayla and the doctors and staff at Helen Keller who tried so valiantly to help her get well. We, the family, take comfort knowing she is in a better place… still watching over us.

Colbert Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
