Suzanne Louise Setzer passed away Sunday June 30, 2024. She was 84 years old.

She was born the oldest daughter of Ernest and Louise Gingerich in York, Pennsylvania on September 3, 1939. She is survived by her three loving sisters, Judy Anderson, Joyce Gingerich and Gail Crone.

Suzanne (lovingly known as Suzy) married the love of her life Stanley Setzer on August 8, 1956. She was the foundation and stronghold of their home while he served his country. She made her house a home and welcomed friends in and treated them like family, loving and caring for many through the years as Momma Sue or Mom Setzer.

She was a long-time member of West Huntsville Baptist Church. Her years spent working in the childcare ministry were dear to her heart. She loved being a part of the lives of so many in her church whether it be as a Sunday School teacher, in the nursery or passing out gum and candy before service to those who had outgrown the childcare corner but still sought her out to give her a hug.

Her greatest pride was in her family. She passed along lessons of love and compassion to her children and grandchildren. She was actively involved in all their lives up until her last days. She took pride in each accomplishment and cheered on every endeavor. She would relay stories of her loved ones to anyone she met, no matter how briefly.

She was preceded in death by Stanley and two children, Carol and Thomas.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Cathy Weiss (Karl), Steven (Martha), Daniel, and Rebecca Schroeder (Lane). She is an adored grandmother survived by her grandchildren, Anna Beasley (Justin), Caleb, Jacob, Joshua (Kristen), Jessica Chambers, Katlyn Chambers, Zachary (Jasmine), Gabriel Schroeder (Riley), Abigail Schroeder, Kendal Coleman, and Elisabeth Schroeder. Her legacy continues with her five great-grandchildren, Chloe, Emily, Levi, Elliot and Evelyn Rose.

Visitation will be Friday, July 5, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. The funeral will be Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Scott Gossett officiating. Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens Cemetery.
