Suspect In Friday Shooting Charged With Attempted Murder

MADISON-The Madison County Sheriff Blake Dorning released a statement concerning a shooting that took place on Friday, January 26:

“Sheriff Blake Dorning announced today January 29, 2018 that the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division arrested Charles Theodore Spears, w/m 28yoa, for Attempted Murder on January 27, 2018.

Deputies were dispatched to Madison Hospital around 10:00pm on Friday night after Madison Police was directed to a shooting victim outside of the Hospital. Around the same time Madison Hospital reported another person with injuries that may have been involved in the incident involving the shooting.

With witness and suspect statements Deputies and Investigators determined that an altercation had occurred on Erle Phillips Road (100 block) in Madison County between Spears and Brian Ranmaker, w/m 32yoa. Additionally at some point during the altercation Ranmaker was shot.

After being treated Spears was transported to Criminal Investigation Division for an interview with Criminal Investigators. Spears was arrested and booked in Madison County Jail for Attempted Murder with a $50,000.00 bond and a Probation Revocation no bond.

The investigation continues and no additional information is available for release at this time.”
