FLORENCE-The Florence Police Department made an arrest in a burglary case at Heritage Christian University on February 11. The Florence Police Department released a statement detailing the arrest of Chris Kilpatrick:
“On February 11, 2016, Heritage Christian University reported a burglary to their University. An office had been broken into on campus.
Kilpatrick was discovered to be the offender. He had previously worked for the University in the maintenance department. During that burglary, several credit cards were stolen.
The victim discovered his credit cards were used in Killen and at a business off Chisholm Rd. The cards were also used in Adamsville and Savannah TN.
Detective Wesley Gargis was able to obtain video of the transactions. Gargis also discovered that Kilpatrick was driving a stolen car that was taken from a residence on Waldridge St in Florence on the same night of the burglary. Kilpatrick also broke into two vehicles in the Forest Hills Subdivision that same night.
Chis Atencio with the US Marshall’s Task Force discovered that Kilpatrick was in Birmingham. He reached out to the Marshalls there where Kilpatrick was taken into custody.
Kilpatrick had the keys to the stolen car in his possession. The car was recovered a few days later a couple of blocks from where he was arrested.
We are seeing a trend where victims are leaving their keys in their car as well as purses and other valuable items which makes them an easy target.”
