Suspect Arrested And Charged With Rape First-Degree

DECATUR-The Decatur Police took arrested a suspect on Rape charges.  The rape took place in May of 2015.  The Decatur Police issued a statement on the arrest and charges in the rape case:

“On May 30, 2015 at about 10:45pm, Decatur Police responded to a Burglary and Rape that occurred at a residence on Towerview St SW.

The victim, a female, told Police that she was in her house when a black male broke into the house thru a rear window. After demanding money, he forcibly raped her in the house before leaving the residence.

The victim was taken to Crisis Services of North Alabama for a Forensic Sexual Assault Exam. DPD Violent Crimes began an investigation on the case.

During the Forensic Sexual Assault Exam, evidence was found and sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences lab for testing. DNA testing on the evidence was performed in the lab. The DNA was compared to samples in the Alabama CODIS system and Donnie Lloyd Jones was identified as the offender.

Jones was on parole at the time of the offense for Burglary 3rd. On 12/2/15, Sgt Silvestri obtained warrants for Rape in the First Degree and Burglary in the Second Degree for Jones.

At about 2:15pm today, Jones reported to the Alabama Pardons and Parole Office to meet his Parole Officer at the Morgan County Courthouse, where he was taken into custody.

Jones was booked into the Decatur City Jail and transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of $200,000 worth of bonds, set by Morgan County Circuit Judge Jennifer Howell.

Alabama Probation and Parole has placed a Parole Violation Hold on Jones.”
