Suspect Arrested After Foot Chase In Florence

FLORENCE-Early Sunday morning an officer conducted a traffic stop on a Ford Escape in the area of Seven Points.  The driver, Brandon Shirley, exited his vehicle and at first complied with the officer but then ran forcing the officer to tackle him.  Shirley continued to resist arrest and was able to get away from the officer forcing the officer to tackle him again.

Additional officers arrived on scene at this time and were able to subdue him.  A warrant check on Shirley showed that he had several warrants with the Florence Police Department.

Shirley was then transported to the Lauderdale County Detention Center.  Once at the detention center Shirley was able to remove the cuffs and run again.   He was unable to get away due to the perimeter fence and was taken into custody once again.

Brandon Shirly was charged with:

Attempt to Elude ,Resisting Arrest (2 counts) ,Escape 3rd degree ,Driving with Suspended License and Fail to Signal

Brandon Lee Shirly, of Ethelsville, AL, is being held on a $5,800 bond.  Brandon Shirley is innocent until proven guilty.
