Sushilaben Amin, 97 years old, passed away on September 19, 2024. She was the wife of late Shri Krishnakant Amin, a loving mother of Anjana Arora, and a most affectionate mother-in-law of Mulk Arora. She was a caring and loving grandmother of Amit (Aruna), Rahul (Tara), and Vivek (Roshni), and a doting great-grandmother to Asha, Sushila, Avi, Anusha, Karishma, Kishan and Jai.
She was born in Mbale, Uganda and was educated in Bombay (Mumbai). After her wedding in 1948, she moved to Indore, India where she managed nearly 100 women in a textile factory and helped those who could not read or write get paid for their work. She eventually moved to Canada in 1966 to join her husband. In Canada, she learned English and took up a job as a seamstress. Her focus was always her family and each time her daughter gave birth, she took extended leave to take care of her and the grandchildren.
In 2009, after both knees were replaced, she moved to Huntsville to be with her daughter’s family. She made a home for herself in Huntsville and developed many close friends. Everyone will remember her welcoming nature, sweet smile, and joyful laughter.
She was an unassuming, caring and affectionate person. She had two passions in her later years, her grandkids and cooking. She greeted each grandchild with a loving embrace and smile that would always cheer them up. Friends would often drop by for a taste of her dishes. She was also quite daring, going on some thrilling but terrifying rides in Disney World and other amusement parks until she was in her mid-sixties. In her last few years, her favorite hobby was to do “word search.”
She was a most loving mother, a great mother-in-law, a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother. She has left us an abundance of sweet memories. We will miss her warm heart and her quiet but very large presence.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 am Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The cremation will follow immediately after the visitation.
