In loving memory of Susan “Sue” Werner of Huntsville, who passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024, after bravely facing a battle with cancer. She was a cherished wife, devoted mother, adoring grandmother, and a treasured friend to many.
Sue began her journey in Winchester, VA on December 21, 1951, born to Weldon “Lee” and Hester Walker. She graduated from John Hanley High School and Lord Fairfax College, paving the way for a remarkable career spanning over three decades with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
She is reunited with her beloved husband of 45 years, Lawrence “Larry” Werner and her loving parents. Sue leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth, cherished by her son Nicholas (Sara) of Madison, grandsons, Noah and Jackson, who lovingly referred to her as “SueSue”, brother and sister-in law, Robert Werner (Sue), Linda Werner-Baird (Dennis), numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Sue’s memory will forever live on through her boundless affection for animals, her compassionate ear always ready to listen, and her undeniable talent for finding the perfect bargain. She will be deeply missed and remembered fondly by all whose lives she touched.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Greater Huntsville Humane Society.
