Susan Strassel O’Neill 83 of Huntsville, AL passed away June 4, 2023. Sue was born in November 1939 in Merrick, New York. She graduated from Freeport High School.
Sue was actively involved all her life in the Catholic church. Her many ministries included Curiso, RCIA, Marriage Encounter, the Backpack children’s program, and many different prayer groups. She had a great love for her family, friends, her faith, traveling and volunteer work.
She was a native New Yorker, who moved to the south 40 years ago. She worked for Parisian Inc. for 22 years before retiring in 2002.
Survivors include her children, Kevin O’Neill, Liz Wright (Steve) Bill O’Neill (Darcy) and Tracey Hooker (Tim); grandchildren, Adam (Katie), Brandon (Megan), Carson Dye, Jillian Dye, Connor and Delaney O’Neill, and Carley and Aidan Sims; and great-granddaughter, WesleyAnne Dye. She is also survived by her sister, Hannah Walker and her son, Matthew Rice (Kiley); cousins, Kathy Franck, Michael Knipfing, and Joan Lenhert and her sons, Bruce (Jenni) Rob (Shannon) and Chris Lenhert (Sara).
Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Kevin O’Neill, and her parents, William and Josephine Strassel.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, June 9th at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. The Eulogy and Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. at the church with Deacon Paul Keil officiating.
