Susan M. Juszczyk (Murphy), age 74 of Boaz, Alabama formerly from Wildwood, Illinois passed away on September 12, 2024.
Susan (Susie) was born January 12, 1950 in Chicago, IL to Elizabeth and Frank Murphy. She was the baby of a family of 7 and one of the “Murphy Triplets” of Chicago. Her bond with her family immediate and extended family has spanned her entire lifetime.
Susie held many jobs, sometimes more than one at a time until she landed her position at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, IL as the Unit Secretary for the Special Care Nursery in Obstetrics (NICU). She was blessed to work with many selfless and incredible staff members, nurses and doctors but her favorite was working with her triplet sister Jeanne who was a NICU nurse. She retired from Good Shepherd and settled into her most rewarding role as Nana.
Susie dedicated her life to her family and her animals. She raised her family in Wildwood, Il where all her children would graduate and move on one by one. She was one of the moms where she always welcomed you in and cared for the neighbors and all the kids. She didn’t have much but what she had she gave willingly. It was when she became a Nana that she shined the brightest. She resided in Wildwood for over 30 years until she moved to Alabama to live with her eldest daughter Elizabeth.
In Alabama she was quickly welcomed with open arms and curated friendships that brought smiles and joy to her life. She looked forward to her monthly “Girls Night Out” dinner dates and built relationships with just about everyone she met from the vet technicians to the pharmacists. She delved into her creative side and many of us have gifts made with her own two hands such as her diamond art pictures, crochet and sewing. Her favorite past time was playing games with her grandkids.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents Elizabeth and Frank Murphy, her siblings Arlene (Sissy) Kearns, Mary Beth Murphy, William Murphy, Frank Murphy, Terrence Murphy and Jeanne Rayniak and her life partner Dennis Olin.
Susie is survived by her loving family Elizabeth, Casey (Julie), Donna (Shawn), Chris, Jenny (Joe), Steven (Aniko). Her pride and joys – Lauren, Austin, Jacob, Blake, Riley, Caleb, Brooke, Abby, Tyler, Braeden, Kiernan, Hayden, Nora, William, Grace and Emma. Her beloved sisters-in-law, cousins and friends who were like family.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that if you would like to make a donation to 2nd Chance Shelter in Boaz, AL in her name. She would love to know that her passion and love for animals continues.
A memorial service will be planned later that will be communicated by the family.
