Susan Katherine Downing, 54, of Huntsville, passed away Sunday. Ms. Downing was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey Thomas Downing and Kate Mastin McDonnell. Susan was raised in Huntsville and was a graduate of Huntsville High School. She loved sports and was well known for playing softball, volleyball, and basketball. She played volleyball on scholarship at Tennessee Tech University, where she graduated in 1990 with a Business Administration degree. In 1998, she earned her Physical Education degree from Athens State University. Survivors include her sister, Sally K. Downing; and nephews, Joseph Troncalli and Kenneth Troncalli, all of Huntsville. Visitation will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. on Friday, November 5, 2021, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A private memorial service will be held.
