Susan Brown Yeoman, a beloved teacher and mentor, died on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at her home in Saltillo, at the age of 73. Susan was born on January 29, 1950, in Tupelo, to Lawrence Newton Brown and Betty Hoover Brown. A lifelong Saltillo resident, Susan was a dedicated member of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Saltillo, where her faith was strengthened and nurtured over the last 40 years through the ordinary means of grace, primarily through word and sacrament.

Susan’s remarkable life was dedicated to shaping young minds, instilling a passion for learning, and shaping the lives of countless students. After getting her undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi, Susan taught High School English at Nettleton, Pontotoc and Saltillo while acquiring a Master’s Degree through summer school classes. She last taught as an Adjunct English Professor at Itawamba Community College’s Tupelo campus.

Although teaching was undoubtedly Susan’s calling, she also found great joy in working around construction and could be found operating heavy equipment for her husband’s residential building company. Homeschooling her children later gave way to a keen interest in pottery which occupied much of her time before health complications made it difficult to continue that hobby.
Described by those who knew her best as a “go-getter,” Susan had a drive that propelled her forward in every aspect of life. She was renowned for her tireless work ethic, always going above and beyond. This exceptional dedication made a lasting mark on all those fortunate enough to know her.

Susan is survived by the love of her life, and husband of 47 years, Steve Yeoman of Saltillo; three children, Michelle Yeoman Siddall and her husband, Jamie, of Saltillo, Charles Brown Yeoman of Saltillo, and Anna Lauren Yeoman of Chattanooga; and one grandson, Jacob Siddall; two nieces, Camille Brown Dixon and Carrie Brown Thomas.

She was preceded in death by her son, Brandon Yeoman, and her brother, Larry Brown.

Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Pegues, Saltillo.

Services honoring her life will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at the Saltillo Chapel of Pegues, with Rev. Phil Reynolds officiating. Graveside services will follow at Saltillo Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Steve Dillard, Jeremy Foster, Glen Allison, Donnie Stacy, Brent McCarter, and Derek Courtright.
