Sue L. Reid, 94, of Huntsville, passed away Friday. Mrs. Reid was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper and Bennie Lewis, six sisters, and one brother.
Born and raised on a farm in Jones County, MS, she went to work in Mobile, AL during WWII. In 1946, Sue married J.R. Reid after he returned home from serving in the Navy. They moved to Mobile in 1951, and were both transferred to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville in 1966.
Sue and J.R. belonged to a square dance club in Mobile. After moving to Huntsville, they became members of the Merry Mixers Square Dance Club and the Roundabouts round dancing club, which they enjoyed for over 40 years. They were also both members of Latham United Methodist church since 1966.
Survivors include her husband, J.R. Reid; son, C. Dean Reid (Gloria); daughter, Bernadette Williams (Tracy); grandchildren, Diane Reid Williams, Sarah Reid Lecky, Michelle Reid Lewandoski, and Emily Gayle Williams; and great-grandchildren, Ava Lecky, Julia Boyles, Grant Lecky, Reid Lewandoski, Ela Lewandoski, and Samuel Lewandoski.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Robert Sparkman officiating. Interment will be at Valhalla Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
