Sue Hester Smith, 76, Muscle Shoals, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023. Visitation will be Sunday, October 22, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be Monday, October 23, at Tuscumbia Church of Christ, beginning at 1:00 p.m., with Gary Puryear and Jeff Abrams officiating. The family will receive friends at the church for an hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.
Sue was a member of Tuscumbia Church of Christ. She previously served as the administrative assistant to the President of Mars Hill Bible School and was a member of the Batting Brigade Quilt Guild of the Shoals. Sue was preceded in death by her father, Archie Hester; mother, Eula Hester; and sister, Eudora Joyce Hester.
Sue is survived by her husband, Steven Chenault Smith; sons, Gregory Chenault Smith (Leigh Ann) and Matthew Wayne Smith (Holly Zeitler); brothers, Leldon, Bryant, and Van Hester; grandchildren, Destiny Cross; Archie, Andy, Evan, and Clara Smith; and great-grandson, Xavier Cross.
Pallbearers will be Archie Smith, Andy Smith, Justin Hester, Van Hester, Bryant Hester, and Victor Semikoz.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ukraine Ministry Fund at Tuscumbia Church of Christ, 102 East Fourth Street, Tuscumbia, AL 35674. Mark donations for “Ukraine Relief”.
