Sue Helen (Glover) Barrett, 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 4, 2024. She dedicated her career to the First National Bank in Dora, where she became a beloved figure in the community.
Helen had a true passion for caring for others and was known for her incredible cooking skills, often sharing her culinary delights with family and friends. Her love for animals was evident in her cherished cats, Sheba and Milo. She was always an active member in her church, where she enriched the congregation by playing the piano and singing. In her later years, she was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Alongside her late husband, Ronald Barrett, she performed with the gospel group, The Gospel Carriers.
Helen is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Ronald; her parents, John and Eatha Glover; her sister, Doris Andrews; her brother, William Glover, and his wife, Barbara; as well as her niece, Joy Pruden, and great-niece, Kim Pruden Reed.
She is survived by her son, Mike, and his wife, Bonnie; her grandchildren, Kenny Barrett, Katie Barrett, and Amy Austin and her husband, John; and her great-grandchildren, Haven Barrett, Michael Austin, Micah Austin, and Liam Barrett. Helen also leaves behind her brother-in-law, Percy Andrews; sister-in-law, Doris Pruden, and her husband, Renford; along with nieces and nephews Dennis Andrews, Karen Barron and her husband, Don, Matt Glover and his wife, DeDe, Keith Pruden and his wife, Gail, and Kent Pruden, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, staff, and chaplain from Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care during Helen’s final months.
Graveside service and burial will be Wednesday Oct. 9, 24 at 11:00 am in New Horizon Memorial Gardens. There is no public visitation. Everyone is invited to meet at the gravesite.
