Ms. Edna “Sue” Fortner Sadler Sue Fortner Sadler, age 86, of Arab passed away March 22, 2024 at Bridgewood Gardens Assisted Living and Memory Care in Albertville.
Sue was born in Cullman County to E.A. “Dock” and Burney Duvall Fortner. She was married to the late William Odell Sadler who passed in 1997. Sue spent her married years living in the Big Cove Community and working alongside Odell as a building contractor until his retirement. After Odell’s passing, Sue moved to Arab to be near her family. She remained in Arab until 2021 when she located to Bridgewood Gardens to peacefully and happily live her remaining years.
Sue is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Horace and Bobbie Fortner of Arab, and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sue was preceded in death by three brothers: Donald Fortner, Cary Fortner and Robert Fortner and two sisters: Gladys Byrom and Helen Stillwell.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 27th, from 10:00am-12:00pm at the Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. The graveside service will immediately follow at 1:00pm at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville, with Verlon Willmon officiating.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of Sue’s memory, donations can be made to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice (408 Martling Road, Albertville, AL 35951).
