Sue Anderson Murphree  A Graveside Funeral service and Interment for Sue Anderson Murphree, 83, will be Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Roselawn Cemetery with Chaplain Rich Thompson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. No public visitation is scheduled.

Mrs. Murphree passed away peacefully on Monday, December 16, 2024 at her residence. She was born February 3, 1941, in Calhoun County, to Charles Alexander Anderson and Mary Louise Nabors Anderson.

Mrs. Murphree, affectionately known to her family as “Poppy Sue”, graduated from Piedmont High School and obtained her B.S. degree, in Education, from Auburn University in 1966. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, and retired as Director of Headstart and Community Action Partnership of North Alabama. She loved sharing witty stories, hosting and cooking for gatherings, and traveling extensively with her husband and love of her life. She was extremely generous and loved her family. She loved the Lord and understood the power of Prayer.

Preceding her in death were her husband: Charles L. Murphree and her parents.

Her family wishes to extend “Special Thanks” to Hospice of the Valley and Dr. John Irle.

Survivors include:

Daughters- Kim Herring Dodd (Thomas)
Stacy Herring Kwapiszewski

Son – James F. “Trey” Herring, III

Step-Children – Lila E. Murphree,
Atlee Sample Murphree, and
Van Quinn Murphree.

Grandchildren – Tucker Anderson Dodd (Katelyn),
Kaleigh Elizabeth Dodd,
Davis Stanford Dodd,
Cullen James Kwapiszewski (Fiancee’, Lauren Gaydosh)
Conner Charles Kwapiszewski ( Madison)
Carson Kenneth Kwapiszewski, and
Mary Linlee Herring.

Four Great Grandchildren

Grandson will be pallbearers.

Family requests, in lieu of flowers, make memorial donations to Meals on Wheels and/or Hospice of the Valley.
