Steven Troy Mathis, age 54 of Decherd, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Southern Tennessee Regional Medical Center. Troy was born on October 27, 1967 in Tullahoma. He served his country in the United States Army. A born-again Christian, Troy was passionate about helping others. He was employed as a social worked with hospice and deeply cared for all his patients. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed coaching kids in all sports and was a big University of Alabama “Crimson Tide” fan. Troy never met a stranger and was a Facebook enthusiast. He also loved to dance. Troy attended World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Floyd and Lola Mae Mathis and E.C. and Lena Howard. Troy is survived by his wife of twenty-nine years, Linda Hill Mathis; parents, Cecil and Brenda Mathis; children, Amber (Josh) Skidmore, Samantha Mathis, Breigh Mathis, and Brody Mathis; three grandchildren, Isiah, Adin, and Asher; siblings, Jeff (Wendy) Mathis, Dawn (Elliott) Ladd, and Kimberly Mathis; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Monday, February 7, 2022 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 with Bro. Rudy Wilkinson officiating.
