Steven “Steve” Whitten, 62, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family after an extended battle with cancer on Tuesday, December 26, 2023. Steve was born in Tupelo on May 8, 1961 to the late John Perry Whitten and Arelee Carter Whitten who survives.
Steve was a down to earth soul and a member of the Baptist faith. He lived life to the fullest and there was never a dull moment when he was around. He worked for 42 years at Tecumseh Products in Verona. His work ethic led to him being promoted to supervisor. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed grilling for them. When he was not riding his motorcycle and cruising in his truck, Steve could be found in the bowling alley. Steve was a great bowler and was a member of the Tupelo Bowlers Hall of Fame. Steve also loved playing softball and cheering on his Tennessee Volunteers. He loved his music and especially Tennessee’s Rocky Top.
