Steven Shane Beckum, age 72, husband of Linda Beckum, and a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at his residence.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with sister in law, Linda Beckum, officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on June 20, 1951, in Columbia, Tennessee, Steve was the son of the late James Lon Beckum and the late Ada Bell King Beckum. He married Linda Morton on March 20, 1971, and together they had two daughters, Jennifer and Bethany. Steve worked many years for Union Carbide before retiring. He later worked for SCATS and drove a school bus for the Maury County Public School System. Steve was a passionate outdoorsman who found joy in hunting and fishing. He also had a fondness for firearms and enjoyed buying and reselling cars. Known for his infectious happiness and zest for life, Steve cherished his family deeply and lived each day to the fullest. He was of the Church of Christ faith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Gary Parmer) Beckum of Columbia, TN, Bethany (Dale) Jackson of Hartselle, AL, siblings, Brenda Attkisson of Benton, MS, Lonnie (Linda) Beckum of Lewisburg, TN, Sharon (Steve) Barr of Columbia, TN, grandchildren, Madison (Josh Kinslow) Owens, Peyton Jackson, Morgan Jackson, Blake Lynn, great grandchildren, Kayden McCullough, Colston Kinslow, beloved dog, Jack, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be James Morton, Billy Morton, Brad Stacy, Ernie Martin, Bryce Butler, and Brayden Stacy.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Gentiva Hospice for their care and compassion for Steven during this difficult time.
