Steven Dell Woodard, age 61, of Hazel Green, went to be with the Lord on Monday while at home surrounded by his loving family after a long, hard fight with liver cancer. Steve was a Christian who had placed his faith in Christ and was gifted at working with children as a children’s minister, along with his wife, in his church.  He enjoyed the life that God had given him, especially fishing, cooking out, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilma Virginia Woodard and James Ronald Woodard and his brother, Lee Michael Woodard.

Steve leaves behind his wife of 39 years, Kimberly Woodard;  his three children: Kristy Gulick, James (Jessica) Woodard, and Jordan Woodard; his four grandchildren: Levi Gurley Woodard, Abbigale Bright Woodard, Tatum Gulick, and Isaiah Woodard.  his five brothers: Ty Woodard (John Deweese), Craig Woodard (Betty), Gene Woodard (Debbie), John Woodard (Sherry), Ronny Woodard (Carla); He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and by three special young men, Rocky Gulick, Steven Bodiford, and Brantley Bodiford.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5PM until 8PM at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Friday at 12PM at the funeral home with Pastor Terry Sanders and Brother Fredrick Gipson officiating.  Burial will follow the service and will be in Ford’s Chapel Cemetery.

Steve will be remembered by all who loved him for his love for the Lord, his love for the world around him, and for all his family and friends.
