Steven Barry Wood, “Woody”, 72, of Athens, passed away Friday, October 4, 2024 at Athens Limestone Hospital. Mr. Wood was born December 12, 1951 in Limestone County to Charles Buford Wood and Edith Lucille Hargrove Wood. He is preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Wayne Wood.
Mr. Wood is survived by his daughter, Amanda Wood (Nathan Smith), two sisters, Debi Taylor (Ronald), Diane Meherg (Joey), and a cousin who was like a brother, Danny Wood.
Mr. Wood was a Vietnam veteran who served for 4 years in the U.S. Army as a sniper. He retired from Solutia, where he worked as a pipe fitter. He loved hunting and fishing, and he was an avid Alabama fan.
