F.11.6.24 Steve Hill.jpgThe Shoals area lost a good man on August 6th of this year… Steve Hill, 70, of Florence, was the only child of Arnold and Mary Dale Hill. Steve was a warm, forthright, honest, humble man with a very gentle spirit. He possessed great empathy, respectful sentiment, humor, and intellect. He always had your back.

Steve was raised in Florence, graduated Coffee High in 1972, was a graduate of the University of Alabama, and was a charter member for 33 years of the Tide Pride season ticket holders. Roll Tide!

He worked for many years as a counselor at the Department of Human Resources, and then held a longstanding position in management at JC Penny Co. Steve was very well read and regarded as somewhat of a local historian, especially of military history.

He is survived by very close friends and “Couching Staff” brothers, Bruce Johnston, Jeff Hall, and Chris Rieser, and by special friend Diane McGee. He is also survived by his aunts and uncle Millinea Hill, Barbara Hill, Johnny Hill.

An informal celebration of his life will be held at Colbert Ferry Park off of the Natchez Trace Parkway on Saturday, November 9th at 11 AM, to tell Steve stories. Drive just past the boat ramp to the riverfront. Must bring a lawn chair because of no seating.

Love and miss you brother. Be free.
