Steve Compton, a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends. He slipped into the good night on August 13, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Steve was a devoted husband to Vickie Compton, and together they built a life filled with joy and dedication. He was the proud father of Bryan (Michelle) Compton, Tyler Compton, Jason (Amanda) Compton, and Josh (Emily) Compton. Steve’s love extended to his grandchildren: Celeste (Rice) Hobgood, Alexis (Kameron) Street, Lex Compton, Zoe Compton, Landon Compton, Austin Compton and Remi Compton, as well as his four great-grandchildren.  He was also blessed with many wonderful nieces and nephews and loving cousins.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Harold Compton and twin boys Jacob and Jonathon.  He is survived by his mother, Maxine Compton, who remains in our hearts. He is also remembered fondly by his brother, Jerry (Stephanie) Compton, and his sister, Terry Truitt. Steve’s family extends their gratitude to his best friend and brother-in-law, Jim Thompson, and his sister-in-law, Sherry Thompson, for their unwavering support.
A lifelong fan of the Atlanta Braves and the University of Alabama football team, Steve had a deep passion for sports. He also cherished his time in the workshop, where he enjoyed woodworking and piddling in his shop. His love for sports and craftsmanship were matched only by his love for his family.
Steve’s warm spirit, generous heart, and vibrant presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He touched many lives with his kindness and was a source of strength and comfort to his family.
A celebration service will be held to celebrate his life and legacy.  Steve Compton’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May he rest in peace.
