Coach Steve Bass, age 73 of Fayette AL, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at his residence. There will be a graveside service Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Fayette Memorial Gardens, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Norwood-Wyatt Chapel, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Bro. Blake Thompson will be officiating the service. Norwood-Wyatt Chapel will be directing the service.
Coach Steve Bass is preceded in death by his parents; Roy Bass and Pearl S. Bass, grandparents; Dennis Sircy and Clara Sircy, and mother and father-in-law; Barbara Burns and Robert Burns.
He is survived by his wife; Barbara Jo Bass of Fayette AL, sons; Jayson (Christy) Bass of Remlap AL, Kevin (Leah) Bass of Fayette AL, and Bryan (Casey) Bass of Fayette AL, sister; Vivian (Lou) Oakley of Alexandrea TN, brothers; Phillip Bass of Dominican Republic, and Colin (Sharon) Bass of Nashville TN, step mother; Linda Bass of Smithville TN, and grandchildren; Jake Bass, Knox Bass, Hawk Bass, Ace Bass, Luella Bass, and Riggs Bass.
Coach Steve Bass was a dedicated family man. Married to his high school sweetheart for 52 years, their enduring relationship has been the cornerstone of his life. Together, they raised three sons, all of whom followed in their father’s athletic footsteps by going on to play professional baseball. Coach Bass’s influence extends beyond the field, where he’s known not only for his coaching prowess but for fostering values of hard work, dedication, and family unity, serving as a role model to many.
