He was born August 14, 1949 in Williamsport, Indiana to the late Leroy Barnhart and Louise Stout Barnhart. He graduated from Williamsport High School in Williamsport, Indiana and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Milligan College in Johnson City, Tennessee. Steve loved his job and worked as a research scientist at Roche Diagnostics in Indianapolis, Indiana for 19 years before retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his family, bragging on his kids and 6 grandchildren, and loving on others. He loved people well and many lives were blessed by him. One of his favorite past times was to have a good cup of coffee while blessing people with conversation. He was an avid reader, but especially loved to read and study scientific books and articles. He also loved Indiana sports and was a devoted Colts and Pacers fan and he loved to watch the Indianapolis 500.
He is survived by two brothers: Mike (Lori) Barnhart and Scott Barnhart; son: Sam (Angela) Barnhart; and daughter: Rachel (Steve) Jacobs; his 6 grandchildren who were his world: Fiona, Finnegan and Eily Jacobs and Journey, Honor and Rocky Barnhart; and a host of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers: Rick (Carla) Barnhart and Jeff (Candie) Barnhart; and his best friend: Scott (Brenda) Cupp.
A private memorial serviced will take place at a later date.

For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14.
