Stephen James Brewer, Jr., 49, of Fort Payne, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2024. He was born April 4, 1975 in Birmingham, Alabama to Dr. Stephen James Brewer, Sr. and JoAnn Clark Brewer and was a 1993 graduate of Fort Payne High School before receiving an associate’s degree in car restoration from Georgia Northwestern Technical College. He was an Eagle Scout and a faithful member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church where he served on the vestry for many years. His kindness and generous spirit continue to be evident by his decision to be an organ donor through Legacy of Hope.
Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. Friday, August 30th at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Jim Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, 2813 Godfrey Ave. NE, Fort Payne, AL 35967.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years Dr. Ellen Lacey Brewer; mother JoAnn Brewer; father Dr. Stephen J. Brewer (Lynn); sister Dr. Michele Hill (Paul); step-siblings Brittany King and Jonathan Watts (Jacey); mother-in-law: Glenda Lacey; brothers and sisters-in-law Earl Lacey, Jr. (Patricia), Eve Biddle (Gary), and Laurel Berry (Chris); special family friend Rhona Hood; several nieces and nephews; 2 godchildren; and his faithful furry companion Stella Mae.
He is preceded in death by his sister Kathryn Suzanne Brewer.
