Stephen Brown
Mr. Brown died on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at his residence. He was born February 22, 1954, in Morgan County where he spent his younger years. He had many fond memories of childhood. He laughed a lot about adventures with his Mawmaw and Papa, aunts, uncles, cousins and brother. As a teenager, he played many sports, but loved wrestling on the Lee High School team the most.
Serving in the Army, he was proud of his training in the military and being stationed in Augsburg, Germany.
He was very sharp, intelligent and a natural leader. After returning from overseas, he attended and graduated from Athens State University. He excelled and dedicated much of his life to his career in government contracts and procurement where he developed lifelong friendships. He served as President, CFO and in other executive roles with various companies.
However, his most successful role was undoubtedly as a loving father. No matter what he went through in life, his daughters always knew they were loved and vice versa.
Steve lit up when talking about friends and loved ones. It could change his whole demeanor. Even if he had not seen someone in 20+ years, he could tell you a story that would point out their best qualities and his love for them. His heart was so big. He was at his very best when he was able to help someone and did so often.
Steve was a handful with at least 9 lives, and he used them ALL! He loved cars, especially the fast and loud kind, but would not shy away from a boat or truck either. He also loved Alabama football, fishing and music.
Steve’s smile, laugh, witty jabs, jokes, heartfelt and hilarious stories, unwavering support, advice and most importantly his love will be remembered and missed more than words could possibly say.
Steve is survived by his daughters, Korri (Phillip) Dutton and Leslie Brown; Grandchildren, Ember (Chad) Hill, Clayton, Sage, Sierra, Colton, Cash, Lane and Reed Dutton; Great Grandchild, Hollis; Brother, Tim (Jennifer) Brown; and Nephews, Temon and Hoyt Brown. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt Brown and Helen Brown, and step mother Lucille Brown; Grandparents, Temon Cam and Clara Hattie Morgan Brown and Thurston James and Hester Viola Borden.
Pallbearers will be Phillip, Clayton and Colton Dutton and Tim, Hoyt and Temon Brown.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle. Mr. Brown will be laid to rest at Valhermoso Holiness Cemetery at 3:00 PM.
